EITM Europe Summer School
The Department regularly offers additional training opportunties, including summer schools, for its M.A. and Ph.D. students as well as for external scholars. These activities are co-sponsered by the Mannheim Centre for European Social (MZES) Research and the Mannheim Graduate School of Economic and Social Sciences.
The original EITM summer institute program has taken place at Washington University, St. Louis every summer since 2001. In collaboration with Washington University, this advanced program on the Empirical Implications of Theoretical Models (EITM) has been offered at Mannheim University in 2009 for the first time in Europe as well. EITM Europe offers three courses that have also been offered in the US. The program includes two courses aimed at game theory and statistical theory and one more applied course that changes every year. The focus of the summer institute is on the problems of testing theoretical models from a political economy perspective. The institute is designed for advanced graduate students and junior faculty whose research and teaching would benefit from training seminars on the link between methods of empirical analysis and theoretical models.
EITM Europe is funded by Mannheim's School of Social Sciences, the Mannheim Centre for European Social (MZES) Research, the Mannheim Graduate School of Economic and Social Sciences and the Washington University, St. Louis.
More information about upcoming summer schools is available at the EITM Europe Homepage.
